Our 2026 calendars are officially here and ready for purchase! Each calendar is $20, with an additional $5 if you would like it shipped directly to you.
You can buy your calendar in person at the shelter Tuesday to Saturday, 11am–3pm, or pick one up at Shur Gain Feeds n' Needs, The Brindle Boston (Blockhouse), Giant Tiger or Sobeys in Bridgewater. Additional locations and pop-up shops will be announced soon.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE, ONE LIFE AT A TIME
Founded in 1986, SHAID Tree Animal Shelter is a no-kill shelter dedicated to providing safe, compassionate care for animals in need. We offer a temporary haven for stray, abandoned, and surrendered pets—working tirelessly to match them with loving, responsible homes.
In 2025, together we were able to help 417 cats and dogs find safety, medical care, and-most importantly-hope. Every one of those animals represents a life changed because of compassion, generosity, and a shared belief that animals matter.
Every SHAID animal is fully vetted, vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped. From the moment they arrive—no matter how sick or injured—we’re committed to providing the care they deserve.
Many of our animals also found comfort in foster homes, where they could heal and grow in a supportive environment before adoption—thanks to our incredible network of foster caregivers.
As a registered charity with no government funding, SHAID depends entirely on the generosity of our community. Your support powers every rescue, every surgery, and every happily-ever-after.

Support SHAID and Win!
Our ongoing 50/50 fundraiser is a fun and meaningful way for Nova Scotia residents to support SHAID Tree Animal Shelter and possibly take home a big win. Since 1986, our no-kill shelter has provided a safe haven for stray, abandoned, and surrendered pets. In 2024 alone, we cared for more than 500 cats and kittens and nearly 30 dogs and puppies, ensuring each received the medical attention and love they deserved.
As a registered charity with no government funding, we rely entirely on community support. When you buy a 50/50 ticket, half the proceeds go to one lucky winner, and the other half directly supports the animals at SHAID. Tickets are available through the link below; if no raffle is currently active, be sure to check back next month.
